So nothing has really been going on since our consultation. Just a lot of waiting. Well, today we get a big package in the mail from NFC. In it is the total rundown cost for IVF. I have a friend who just finished IVF and said she spent about 11,500. So I was pretty much ready to spend that. Well, come to find out, the TESA that Will needs (where they go in and extract sperm from him) is 6,655. WHAT?!?! I have no idea how we will come up with that sort of money before we can even START ivf. Not to mention, my HSG is 900 and we just got the bill for Will's bloodwork, which is 524. This is turning out to be soo much money. I know I will have to get a loan, which medical financing only gave me 5000. Thankfully, my mom said she would co sign, so I am hoping for 20,000. Do you have a headache yet? Because I sure do.
On a side note, I can not believe the amount of support Will and I are receiving. I have read where so many people are praying for us and supporting us. I know it may seem superficial to just "post" something on facebook, but it really does mean a lot to me. Even if I do not know you personally, if I have ever even crossed your mind and you have wished me good luck on this journey, I sincerely thank you. Your support is really helping me through this crazy new chapter in my life. If anyone has ANY ideas on how I could possibly come up with some money, PLEASE let me know!
Thanks for your support!! Here is the pic of the dreaded paperwork..
Hey Tiff,
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can approach someone in corporate america and offer advertising on your blog page. Maybe some product or service that can be used during IVF? They would pay you and it may help others get in contact with the right doctor's and people to help with similar struggles. Just a thought.
If there is any fundraising efforts I could head on the east coast you just let me know. I would love to help any way possible.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Shell Bell
You probably already thought of this but have you considered applying for a federal grant? I found this link. http://www.ehow.com/about_7373220_grants-ivf.html
ReplyDeleteSorry I am probably going to harass you with a million ideas....lol...If anyone deserves this it's you two <3
aww thank you!! we were thinking of taking out a loan, didnt think of a grant, i will definitely check that out. I am prob going to have a spaghetti dinner here to raise some money, but I would love your help doing a fundraiser up there too. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteso I checked out the grant thing and all of their deadlines were in June or July and they are only in specific states, go figure TN is not one of them. ugh!
ReplyDeleteThere is also something called a "Fertile Dream Scholarship" that would give the winner 10,000 toward medical bills at any facility. I didn't see a deadline but I could only go so far into the process before it started asking me stuff I didn't know how to answer lol http://www.fertiledreams.org/
ReplyDeletelol, yeah I checked into that one, it only goes to people in AZ or IL. :-( I am hoping my fundraisers are going to bring in lots of money! Check them out if you get a chance, ANYTHING helps
ReplyDeleteHi, I don't know you but I wish you all the best and plan to buy something for your scentsys fundraiser. I know you have already thought of some fundraisers and I don't know if you could do this but a good friend of mine was raising money to go and adopt a child and she set aside a weekend for "photo shoots" (she is not a professional photographer or anything) and she planned a location and just told everyone about it and sold 1 hour slots from 7am-7pm Fri-Sun for $100 each and they sold out in 2 days! She also had a service where people could give them their pictures and the supplies and she would make a scrapbook for them for $150 or she could buy the supplies for $50 more; I think she made about $5000 doing just these things so if you are talented in any areas like that, I'm sure you could make some extra money there! I hope I helped and I wish you all the best!
